Sworn Translation has become a very important issue recently due to International Trade, Formation of Political-Economic Blocs, Migration and Tourism.
Good, But What is (Sworn Translation)? In general, Sworn Translation is known as an official certified translation of a document with legal status or any document that needs to be approved by legal processes such as birth certificates, academic certificates or declarations. Sworn translations are always needed when any translation needs to be used for administrative purposes or requests from state authorities.
There is no fixed regulation regarding sworn translation, because the conditions vary according to the country in which it will be used, and therefore the regulations may vary according to the location. Therefore, depending on the process of translation in the target country, we can also qualify such translations as certified public or official translations.
However, depending on the country of origin of the translation and the country to which the final document will be delivered, there are some different processes required to verify the translation. Some of the most common of these are mentioned below:
If the document has been translated by a "Sworn Translator", it can be considered that the translation in question has been officially approved. There are some countries, such as Spain, France or the Netherlands, where interpreters can become sworn translators under oath before a court; in this way, translations are treated as a complete and accurate copy of the original document and are deemed to meet legal requirements. These translations also bear the signature and stamp of the translator. This is not the case in countries such as the UK or USA. In these countries, any translation is considered certified if the translation document is signed in the presence of a lawyer or notary public; however, the lawyer or the notary does not guarantee the accuracy of the document (content), instead the translator who signed the translation assumes all responsibility. For example, if a document has been carelessly translated, the translator may be charged with contempt of court, perjury or negligence.
Any translation may also be approved by the translator or the translation company, provided that they indicate their qualifications. To do this, the translator or translation company must:
